Some info...
Why so many playlists? Well, I sort my music in several ways: subgenre, mood and intensity. Each track I like goes into one subgenre, zero or more moods and one intensity. I find having playlists per intensity helps to create a more coherent and stable listening experience. Especially important when several people are listening at once, like when you're having a party or there is music on in the background. There is some overlap in the genre lists, since these are all combinations of various subgenres. Each has its own moment I guess. Same with the moods. There is a lot of overlap between Knuffel, Soft, Breakfast and Warm, but each has its own limitations. Knuffel has more sad songs, Soft more easy listening, Breakfast more background-y, Warm... is warmer! Zwembad, Knuffelparty and Lekkergoings have a similar overlap, for example. Try them out and see if you can feel what I mean :).
What's the best way to keep up with updates? I have a "bitface curates - new tracks" playlist (under "Selections") that only has tracks added since the last update. This and the 3-Star+ list contains everything that gets added to any of these playlists. But that's quite a lot, so I'd sooner recommend picking certain genres that you like OR staying up to date with the 4-Star+ list. All playlists are sorted new to old, based on the date I added them to iTunes ;).
Oh, and everything is always a work in progress... Not a single list is perfect. Some of the intensity ratings are A.I. predicted (that was a fun experiment), some of the genres are based on old configurations. I started this iTunes library in 2007, and each revision of the sorting system was never a full revision ;).
